Active for almost two decades, Rochester-based experimental art-rock duo Bloody Noes specializes in making sensational one-off live shows. You never know what you're going to get: pure noise, dadaesque performance… a seance, a medical procedure, a holiday pageant. Their long brewing mixtape, Objects Are People Too, is a collection of conceptual, experimental, and sound-art pieces. Spooky, spellbinding, silly. The debut release from the performance-art duo featuring DJ Cardboard and MC Drywall.
In line with the group's imposing yet ridiculous recurring characters, DJ Cardboard and MC Drywall, the tracks here radiate with an infectious tongue-in-cheek energy. Tracks like Guess What? and the recurring Gas Can Scam themes hold nothing back in energy or bare realness of sound. Other tracks, like the church rap Pope it Up, the spooky groove Walking Through the Graveyard, and the bouncy title track range widely through genres, deconstructing them as they go. Full of plot twists, textural experimentation, and tons and tons of grunts, Bloody Noes' first recording project is a glimpse into the minds of this twisted partnership.
Two monsters that meticulously create a portal into the “Black Lodge” of noise performance. Bedtime Story tellers for those that want to stay up long enough to start naturally hallucinating. — Dr. Hamburger (Tumul, Psychic Garden)
