Perpets / Barnaby Oliver
Standing Drift
Troubled Times Tapes (New Zealand) TTT016
Barnaby Oliver is a multi instrumentalist/composer originally from the UK but currently resident in Australia. In June of 2026 he was in New Zealand for a series of shows and stopped by in Masterton on a rainy winters afternoon for a recording session with Zac and Antony of the duo Perpets.
Barnaby is a very sensitive player and was a great fit for Perpets. The session ranged from abstract almost-ambient feedback and string noise studies to ever so slightly bent spacious lilting electric folk daydreams.

Following the session they beat a hasty retreat from the frigidly cold garage to the house and its cosy fire side for a cup of tea.
Barnaby Oliver: violin, guitar, drums.
Zac Winterwood: guitar, shruti box.
Antony Milton: guitar, drums.
