Summer 2015 List
Posted by Joe Tunis September 09, 2015
Aside from reading a ton of comics and graphic novels this summer, also read a couple books. An of course, a ton of music was bought and listened to. Here's a list:
Howlo
Howlo and City of Quality Records put out a gem of an indie pop slab this summer.
Rick Remender
Absolutely obsessed with Rick Remender's work. First came across his work this past year with the new series Low, and then tracked down the various Black Science and Deadly Class graphic novels.
Zero by Ales Kot
Came across Ales' work this summer in the new series Material. So then tracked down Zero and cranked through all 4 volumes of the graphic novel format. Amazing surreal spy series with crazy drug/mold induced interludes, culminating in a total-Burroughs
Gun Machine - Warren Ellis
A new novel by one of my favorite comic writers Warren Ellis (not the violin player from Dirty Three). Amazingly written crime novel with some awesome references and details.
Read this thing in like 3 days, which is a record for my slow-ass. A completely nostalgic walk through the 90's weird/math/indie/rock scene, and Jon's journey with coming to terms with it all, and... moving forward... Makes me wonder why i didn't spend
The Music List:
Flying Saucer Attack - Instrumentals 2LP
Carlton Melton - Out to Sea 2LP
Pure Ground - Standard of Living LP
Cheetahs - s/t LP, Sunne LP, Sans EP
